LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club selected defenseman Calen Addison second overall on Tuesday at the 2015 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft in Calgary.
The Brandon, Manitoba, product spent the 2014-2015 season playing for the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Winnipeg Bantam AAA Hockey League where he led the league in scoring collecting 76 points (45g-31a) along with 46 penalty minutes in just 31 games. The 15-year-old scored six more goals than the second highest goal-scorer this season.

Hurricanes General Manager, Peter Anholt, says the 5’9” and 160-pound rearguard is an exciting player, “He’s a real special player. He’s not very big, but he plays the game big and he skates so, so well. His first three strides are powerful.”
“He passes the puck so, so well and he thinks the game so good; he’s an elite player and we believe he’s going to have a really good career, not only with us but going forward at whatever level that might be,” continued Anholt. “He’s one of those guys that when you’re watching a game he’s a hard guy to take your eyes off of, you always seem to watch him.”
When asked what player Addison reminds him of, Anholt said, “We’ve all compared him to Tyson Barrie, he can really skate and push the puck up the ice.”
There will be a media availability via conference call with Addison on Monday, May 11th in the afternoon.
