CALGARY AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes completed a strong 2015 WHL Bantam Draft on Thursday in Calgary selecting a total of 10 players: five forwards, four defenseman and one goaltender.

The Hurricanes began the day selecting coveted rearguard Calen Addison with the second overall pick. Addison, from Brandon, MB, appeared in 31 games this season with the Brandon Wheat Kings Bantam AAA collecting a league high 76 points and 45 goals.

With their second pick in the draft, the Hurricanes took 5’11”, 180-pound forward Josh Tarzwell of the Red Deer Rebels White Bantam AAA. In 32 games this year, Tarzwell collected 33 points (17g-16a) along with 50 penalty minutes.

With the 59th overall pick, the Hurricanes selected 6’2”, 161-pound defenseman Tyler Strath. Strath, from Carseland, Alberta, picked up 23 points (4g-19a) along with 32 penalty minutes in 31 games this season with the Rocky Mountain Raiders.

Without picks in the fourth or the fifth round, the Hurricanes selected forward Zach Kosteniuk with the 120th overall pick in the sixth round. He scored 45 points (19g-26a) in 38 games with the Notre Dame Hounds Bantams AAA.

At 134th, the Hurricanes picked 5’11”, 200-pound forward Shawn Harke of the Pursuit of Excellence H.A. Bantam Prep.

The Huricanes had a pair of eighth round selections. At 156th overall, the Hurricanes took 6’1”, 181-pound defenseman Dylan Flynn at 156th from the Edmonton Maple Leafs and at 167th, selected 6’1”, 170-pound forward Tristan Jones from Edmonton CAC.

In the ninth round, 178th overall, the ‘Canes drafted forward Jackson Salt from the Rocky Mountain Raiders. He had 33 points (13g-20a) in 33 games this season.

With the 200th overall pick, the Hurricanes selected 5’8”, 167-pound defenseman Blair Bush from the Edmonton SSAC before rounding out the day taking goaltender Adam Swan of the Interlake Lightning with the 222nd overall pick.

In total, the Hurricanes selected seven Alberta-born players, two Manitoba-born players and one Saskatchewan born player.
