LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Western Hockey League announced Wednesday that Lethbridge Hurricanes defenseman Andrew Nielsen and forward Brayden Burke have both been named to the Eastern Conference All-Star teams for the 2015-2016 regular season.
Nielsen was named to the Eastern Conference’s First All-Star Team for his tremendous season. The 19-year-old from Red Deer, Alberta appeared in 71 games this season collecting 70 points (18g-52a) along with a plus-30 ranking. He became just the third Hurricane defenseman to reach the 70-point plateau in a single season joining Shane Peacock and Darcy Werenka as the only others. Nielsen finished third in WHL scoring among defenseman.


Burke was named to the Eastern Conference’s Second All-Star Team. The sophomore had a breakout year appearing in all 72 games this season collecting 109 points (27g-82a) along with a team-high plus-36 rating. Burke became the first Hurricane to reach the 100-point plateau since Jeremy Jackson accomplished the feat in 2002-2003. His 109 points ranked him third in WHL scoring this year.
