LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club announced today that 18-year-old forward Johnny Wesley has been reassigned to the Surrey Eagles of the British Columbia Hockey League.

The White Rock, BC, product was acquired from the Vancouver Giants prior to last season’s Western Hockey League trade deadline in exchange for overage forward Zane Jones.

Wesley appeared in 31 games last season with the Hurricanes scoring five goals and adding five assists with 19 penalty minutes. The 5’11, 195-pound winger joined the Hurricanes after spending the first half of last season playing with the Eagles where he scored 21 points (5g-16a) in 31 games.

With the move, the Hurricanes now have a total of 26 players currently on their roster including two goaltenders, nine defenseman and 15 forwards.

The Hurricanes will open the 2015-2016 regular season on Friday night when they welcome the Medicine Hat Tigers at the ENMAX Centre in the Dairy Queen Home Opener. There will be a tailgate party beginning at 5:00pm with a by donation Bar-B-Que providing burgers and pop courtesy of Mr. Mikes SteakhouseCasual – all proceeds of the BBQ will go to the United Way.
